Dear Artists,
Thank you so much for accepting our invitation to participate in this year’s art project in La Junta, Colorado. Your enthusiasm and creativity are truly appreciated, and we are thrilled to have such a talented group contributing to this event. This project promises to be an inspiring experience, and your involvement and cooperation is crucial to its success. We are looking forward to seeing the unique contributions each of you will bring to our artistic community. The theme this year is, “Add some character.”
Additionally, we would like to remind you that the Tarantula Festival will be taking place concurrently with our event. This festival is a cherished local tradition, and we encourage everyone to be on their best behavior and to show the utmost courtesy to the attendees. Your professionalism and respect for the local customs will reflect positively on our project and help create a harmonious atmosphere. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable event, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Respect all participants and attendees.
- Represent our project with integrity and respect.
- Do Not park in the alleyways or No Parking zones. (see map below)
- Do Not impede Tarantula Fest Parade. (see schedule and map below for info)
- Maintain cleanliness in all spaces.
- Be mindful of noise levels during evening hours.
- Follow all safety protocols and event guidelines.
- DRINKING: ONLY in designated areas.
- SMOKING: We Are Guests at this Festival and Want to keep our relationship on good terms for future endeavors. Heavy Police presence is expected throughout the day, and they will issue tickets and more, during Tarantula Fest!!!! Therefore, Vapes Are Recommended.

Friday, 9-27-24
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Presentation at Otero College, Wheeler Hall, Learning Commons by Dr. Paula Cushing, and Dr. Cara Shillington. Volunteers with Denver Museum will be on hand with specimens for the public to view.
3:30 p.m. – Movie Fox Theater – Arachnophobia
4:00 p.m. – Tarantula Tours – Must make reservation – Pickup in front of Thyme Square 302 Colorado avenue.
Time TBD – Koshare Dancers – Kiva
Saturday, 9-28-24
